Our class room based interactive workshops are designed to give you improved capability when modelling accidental release scenarios associated with the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. They are a mixture of hands-on experience combined with knowledge of the relevant underlying physical principles.
During the workshop you will use the Casqade modelling software package to help to facilitate this understanding, though the learning objective of the workshop is not specific to this package. It is aimed at providing you with the capability to understand and question the basis of any relevant model.
The fundamental concepts are presented to a level appropriate to understand the modelling concepts. These concepts include the kinetic theory of gases, fluid flow through orifices, equations of state, phase change, the combustion reaction and energy transfer. The fundamental theory is backed-up by the empirical relationships used in the development of models. We cover releases of single and multi-component materials, vapour dispersion, fires and explosions.
